| Description: |
An excavation in 1915 in the area of a proposed prisoner of war camp revealed large quantities of worked flint, stone tools, pottery and animal bones. Excavations nearby in 1978, 1979 and 1980 exposed a prehistoric land surface dated to the Chalcolithic period. Finds have also identified Mesolithic worked flints and Neolithic, Bronze Age and Gallo Roman pottery. |
